I’ve been eager to show you guys this for a loooong time now. My fabulous designer, Hafsah from Icey Designs, designed this for me last year, but I hadn’t wanted to share this until we got closer to the release. Well…now that we’re weeks away, I can finally share it!

So without further ado, here is the new cover for RETROGRADE:

Isn’t it gorgeous?? I will have a release date to share very soon, but in the meantime, it’s time for a contest :). See below for all the contest excitement!

So it’s been a while…

No, I didn’t drop off the face of the earth. But I did disappear for a bit, and I have a very good reason: I had a baby :).

Life as a mother as been nothing short of a whirlwind (a wonderful, exhilarating, joyous, exhausting, fulfilling whirlwind), so it’s been a bit tough to keep up with blogging. I promise, I’ve been hard at work, though. And with that, let’s catch up!

Tap, tap, tap... Is this thing on?

Tap, tap, tap… Is this thing on?

When we last spoke, I was still editing book two (aka RETROGRADE). It was an all-consuming process, and I really took the time to rework it from the ground up. I’m proud of the result, and I do think that it benefitted greatly from the extra time and extra work. I’m thrilled to say that it’s in its final stages of being proofread, so it is only weeks away from making its debut at long last!

Stay tuned for more news as we get closer to release :).

Then there’s book three. Though I’ve been very quiet on social media, I have been hard at work with TRUE NORTH. Yes, in the midst of 24/7 feeding, diaper changes, and cuddles, I’ve also been chipping away at the first draft for the final book of the trilogy. I’m about a third of the way into the draft and having a blast. First drafts are about having fun with a story: buckling in that seatbelt, saying a little prayer, and taking off on a wild ride to see where it takes you. The ride has been especially enjoyable for me, and I hope it results in a kick-ass way to end the story.

That’s it from me for a while as I go back to Mommyhood and first drafting. I’ll pop back up every once in a while to update you on book two’s release date, and in the meantime, check back in on June 13–I have a special surprise in the works!

C'mon, who can resist this? The reason you haven't heard from me in a while...

It’s been quite a while since my last update. I’m sorry to have been MIA! The good news is, I’ve been very busy while I’ve been MIA: I started the first draft for book three, TRUE NORTH), and…I’ve also been growing a human :).

Yes, there’s a very happy reason for why I’ve been quiet, and that’s because I’ve been adjusting to life as an expectant mom. Needless to say, the energy drain that came with the first trimester (which, if I’m being perfectly honest, hasn’t really ended even though I’m now in my second!) has thrown me for a very big loop. Most of my free time these days is spent taking lots and lots of naps. And I’ve been doing my best to make sure I’m getting my writing in, even if it’s not as much writing as I’d planned to do! That’s okay. As long as I’m pushing forward, I’ll get there!

The last time I posted, I mentioned that I had just turned in the draft of RETROGRADE to my editor. The plan had been to get the book finalized and ready for release by the end of the year, but as I’ve been learning to do for the last few weeks now, when surprises come, you have to roll with them :).

The book is still not quite there, and I’d like to take a few more months to work on it before I’m comfortable sharing it with the world. Fear not, I will continue to work on it, and I will definitely finish it! But I’m a perfectionist, as you may have surmised from my posts, and this story is so incredibly important to me. It’s so important that I want to make sure it’s done right, and it’s not where I’d like it to be yet.

So…I ask for some patience. I’m hoping I can have to book out to you by next spring or summer, so it’s a few months later than I’d been aiming for. But you can bet I will put the extra time to very good use by making it as good as I can possibly make it.

Thank you as always for the support, and in the meantime, I’m getting back into the editing and revision saddle!

First of all, Happy Easter to everyone who celebrates! This is one of my favorite days of the year, so I’m excited to post today–and even more excited because I have good news to share!

I’ve now finished the rewrite for Polaris Book Two (Retrograde), and it shall be in my editor’s hands in a few weeks (I’m letting it “rest” for a few days, and then I’ll do a few once-overs and tweak it a bit more before sending it over).

If all goes well and we’re ready to move to line-editing stage in a few weeks, I should be able to get this to you by the end of the year! I am aiming for a fall release, but we’ll have to see if that timing works.

I’m also planning to start the first draft of Polaris Book Three (True North) in a few weeks, so I’m chomping at the bit for that. I can’t believe I’m almost at the end. Truth be told, I’m a little emotional about it. Sob.

But I just try to remind myself that it will mean I can finally share the full story with all of you, and that’s the reward.

Until next time…

No, it’s not deja vu. We have been here before. But I’m thrilled to announce that I have a title–yes, again–for book two.

But before I announce it, let’s back up for a second. Several months ago, I told you that book two wasn’t quite ready to come into the world just yet. After great feedback from my beta readers and editor, I decided to take a giant step back (several, actually) and really try to understand the core of my story so I could figure out how best to tell it. I knew what I was trying to say all along, but somewhere between my brain and the page, things were getting lost in translation.

I wanted to give myself permission to reimagine this book. Although I love the heart of this story and knew it was the one I wanted to tell, I had to let myself explore all the different ways of letting it unfold. And in order to do that, I knew I had to somehow press reset. So…I decided to give it a new name.

Fresh start. Blank slate. A new name would make it a different book and would ensure I wasn’t just setting out to rearrange the deck furniture on the Titanic.

I’m proud of what this story has evolved into. Most of the core elements are still the same, but I was able to tap into the deeper layers of it to give it more meaning and clarity. With a completed outline sitting pretty in my computer, I’ve dived in and am now happily in the rewrite process, with the hope of getting this book out to you by the end of the year.

Now with all that out of the way, let’s get to the name already, yeah?

Book two’s title will be: Retrograde.

Look for a cover reveal later this year–it’s really amazing :).
